THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF “YOUNG WINE FESTIVAL” PASSED WITH HUGE INTEREST

For the tenth time Plovdiv proved to be the capital of wine. More than 23 000 wine lovers walked around the Old Town to taste the best young wines of 36 winemakers from all over Bulgaria in the three days. The tastings were accompanied by 10 local culinary temptations and honey producers that helped them to perform better in 12 emblematic locations. Visitors from all over the country, as well as many foreign guests from Greece, Turkey, Romania, Germany, France, Italy, Sweden, Russia, Israel, Australia, etc. were registered. Many visitors also took part in the “Days of Young Wine” took place in the Trakart Cultural Center and the Roman Stadium.

The tastings passed with great interest to the winemakers, and among them the best results were distinguished: Villa Vinifera, Real Bio wine, Trastena, VR Brestovitsa and VI Logodaz. For the tenth year, the opening began with the Dionysius procession and the musical-dance performance of the outstanding talents of the Trakia Ensemble.

At the “Wine Crafts Evening” the winning wines of the 8-member jury were announced at the Dionysus tasting contest. The three categories for young white, rosé and red wines with gold Dionysus were awarded: Chardonnay of Todorov, Sauvignon Blanc x Semión Chardonnay of Villa Yustina, Couple of Kozya Gramada, Rubin of Vinazvoden Asenovgrad and Syrah of a Study-Experimental Cellar AU-Plovdiv, Chadon of VI Kozya Gramada, Mavrud of VI Nichev, Syrah of Vinazvoden Asenovgrad, Syrah Kharmenarr Cabernet Franc of Zaarera Estate, Cabernet Sauvignon of Black Sea Gold AD.

Special plaques were awarded to 10 wine producers, who have been an integral part of the event since its inception. These are Novoselska Gamza AD, Vinazvoden Asenovgrad, VI Vila Yustina, YM Yamantievi, YT Todorov, YV Little Star, Villa Vinifera, Pomorie Black Sea, Chateau Kopsa, VI Brestovitsa.

On the occasion of the 10th anniversary of the event entitled “Stimulating and Developing Young Adults in the Educational System”, the chairman of the organizing committee of the event, Mr. Lyubozar Fratev handed diplomas to three prominent students from the University of Food Technologies who participated as volunteers the stands of manufacturers. For their promotion, 5% of the festival’s revenues are intended.

The visitors’ prizes, based on the results of the survey cards, received for the best young white wine of Kozya Gramada R & D, and in the category of young rosé and red – the wine of Novoselska Gamza.

The Tourism Council – Plovdiv and the Plovdiv Municipality organize “Young Wine Defile” in active cooperation with the Old Plovdiv Plovdiv University, the University of Food Technologies – Plovdiv, Sol Communica- tions EOOD, the Plovdiv 2019 Foundation, the vocational high schools in tourism, the higher education institutions and all participants in the wine business. Sponsors of the event are: Raiffeisen Bank EAD, Herti AD, KCM Trade Ltd., Tabak Market AD, Dimitar Madzharov – 2 EOOD, Techno Actas AD, Ice Age. The event is held in support of Plovdiv – European Capital of Culture 2019. “Young wine defile” occupies an important place in the event calendar of Plovdiv and is part of the National Tourist Calendar. The event enjoyed tremendous media interest.
