The 9th edition of “Young Wine Defile” registers over 21 000 visitors during the weekend
For the ninth time in Plovdiv was a young wine tasting on the streets of the Old Town in Plovdiv. New wine tastings took place in the 15 emblematic houses of the Old Town traditionally on the last weekend of November. The event registered a record number of visitors – over 21 000 people during the 3 days enjoyed the young wines of 36 winemakers from all over Bulgaria. Numerous organized groups with foreign and Bulgarian tourists participated in the tastings and visited the Old Town of Plovdiv.
The greatest interest was in the production of the Logoday wine cellar, followed by the guilt of Grandpa Plamen and Chateau Kopsa. Some of the sites were offered specially prepared food for the tastings, taking part in the festival also the producers of honey with their ecological production. The opening and tasting were accompanied by the specially prepared repertoire of the outstanding musicians and dancers from Trakia Ensemble, which enjoyed the visitors of one of the most popular wine tourism events in the country.
This year the awards for the best young white, red and rosé wines were announced at the gala dinner at the restaurant “Shtastlivci pod tepeto”. The tasting committee, made up of outstanding professionals in this branch, was represented by Assoc. Prof. Hristo Spasov, Department of Wine and Beer at the University of Food Technologies.
With Golden Dionysus in the “Red Wine” category Rubin 2017 of Vinazvod AD Asenovgrad and Villa Justina Rouge – Rubb were awarded. (50%) X P. Noar (30%) X Merlot (20%). In the “Rose” category, the winner was Rosse Cab. Sauvignon of the Kozya Gramada Winery. Golden Dionysus for the best white wine in the tasting contest was awarded to the Little Star for Enigma Chardonnay.
Visitors’ prizes, based on the results of the survey cards, grabbed the family winery Bratanov for the best red wine, the boutique winery Kyosev – for the best rosé and Kozya Gramada for the best young white wine.
“Young Wine Festival” is a registered trademark registered by the Tourism Council of Plovdiv for organizing and holding tastings of young Bulgarian ефиле фиwines during the last Friday, Saturday and Sunday of November in different houses in Old Plovdiv.
“Young Wine Gorge” is organized by the Tourism Council – Plovdiv and the Municipality of Plovdiv in active cooperation with the Old Plovdiv Plovdiv School and the University of Food Technologies – Plovdiv, as well as the vocational high schools, higher education institutions, catering companies, wine producers and institutions related to culture and art in the city.
